Welcome one and all to Pearl Bearer. Starting this blog feels like a lovely adventure and I have no idea how it will unfold, but based on my personal passions, you can expect to see posts relating to; achieving true equality between men and women, abolishing prejudice based on 'race' and religion, building healthy communities, addiction and recovery, learning to love the Divine more than money, power and prestige, nurturing the minds and souls of children everywhere and the relationship between creativity and spirituality.
This is mainly a perfunctory post to say g'day and get my fingers warmed up. As I become more adept at utilising this medium, I hope it will become prettier and prettier, as well as more user friendly. Please feel free to share any tips with me, pro-bloggers...and hey, invite your mates!

Mission Statement
This blog is intended to provide a forum where diverse ideas about humanity's collective spiritual evolution can be explored, celebrated and exchanged. Although my perspective is shaped by the Baha'i Faith, I hope this page will attract not only Baha’i’s but people of all different communities, colours, genders, philosophies, religions, spiritual beliefs or lack thereof, united by a desire to play an active role in the future of our species and the salvation of our planet. Let’s swap thoughts, support, challenge and inspire one another.

What is the Baha'i Faith?
The Baha'i Faith is the world's youngest independent religion and was founded in Iran by Baha'u'llah in 1844. The chief tenets of the Baha'i Faith revolve around the concept of unity. Baha'u'llah taught that there is one God, one human race, and essential harmony between all major religions. His writings offer practical means of solving humanity's most pressing social, environmental and economic problems, as well as providing a blueprint for the creation of a peaceful global civilisation. Baha'i's around the world are actively working towards realising this vision of humanity as one family who serve as custodians of a shared homeland: planet Earth.

I am blessed to be a member of two amazing global communities; the Baha'i Faith and various 12 Step Recovery Fellowships. I’m excited about exploring the intersections between the two movements in this blog. In fact, I believe they have a great deal to teach one another and I hope this page can help establish a mutually beneficial bridge between them. In keeping with the cherished 12 Step tradition of maintaining personal anonymity, which requests that I refrain from disclosing my identity via name or photograph in all forms of public media, I appreciate any visitors that might know "who I really am" addressing me by my pseudonym, Pearl.

What are 12 Step Fellowships?
A 12 Step fellowship is a network of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem of addiction to a specific substance or behaviour, as well as help others to recover. The only requirement for membership is a desire to arrest the addiction. There are no dues or fees for 12 Step membership; the fellowships are sustained through voluntary contributions from members only. 12 Step fellowships are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; do not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorse nor oppose any causes. The primary purpose of any 12 Step member is to remain free from active addiction and help other addicts to achieve recovery.
